Hello everyone! We'll be starting shortly...
Ok welcome everyone to our live chat session with Bassmaster Elite Series Pro, Mike Iaconelli! Thank you Ike for taking time to chat with us tonight. And thank you everyone online for spending time with us, we're excited for another great session!
We have lots to talk about tonight including Ike's big win this year in Philly, the new 2015 Bass University class schedule, and discussion around the new Ike-designed Abu Garcia line of fishing rods!
Outside of those topics, this chat is open for questions and answers with Ike. Please keep in mind there may be delays in answering questions, as it takes time to think about, respond and type answers to each. We'll do our best to get through as many questions as possible.
To kick it off, let's reminisce about the big hometown win at the Delaware River event earlier this year. What an incredible win for you Ike!
Was anyone there to experience the excitement of the weigh-in?
It was AMAZING!!!! Its such a great feeling to win at home in front of fans, friends and family on the place where I learned how to fish!
The new Missile Jigs will be available starting at the 2015 Bassmaster Classic!
Wow, there are lots of them. Id have to say Union, Alloway, and Denisville are on the top of the list!
For cold water smallmouth I like to start with a reaction bait like a suspending jerk or shad rap. But for when its really tuff, i usually end up going to a drop shot, hair jig, or small spoon or blade bait!
My fav way to fish is power fishing, like cranks and jigs! Id like to improve on my deep water and sight fishing tech
I use both, but now with the new Ikes Custom Ink colors from Rapala I dont have to get as many custom painted!
Great question. I look for the deeper break lines during the winter! Also if there is still grass alive I will target that! I like reaction baits forst (jerkbaits, traps, and tight wobble cranks). If they dont work I go to finessing smaller jigs, drop shots and shaky heads!
Speaking of tips and tactics, Ike, what's in store for The Bass University in 2015? Looks like they have some new cities on the class schedule?
YES! We have a great schedule of classes starting in January. Just go to thebassuniversity.com to check out the list of dates and cities!!!!!
We also now have Bass University TV which brings all of the hard core learning directly to your own home!!!!
Planing on fishing the moment at the Classic. Its a blueback lake so I'll always be thinking about bait!
